bluetooth stereo gateway, but not this one.
Very hit and miss product…
I’m much happier with the Blackberry stereo gateway that I recently purchased to replace this one. It’s a great interface between my Blackberry full of MP3 songs and my car stereo with an aux input jack. And you don’t have to own a Blackberry to use it… as long as you have Bluetooth and A2DP, it’ll work fine.
Pretty good, overall.
I’m using the Jensen WBT210 in conjuction with a Motorola DC800 Bluetooth transmitter (Bluetooth Stereo Gateway DC800 Bluetooth Adapter for Home Stereo) to listen to TV and DVD wirelessly via headphones. Pairing is very easy and sound quality is quite good. With some bluetooth headphones, there is a noticeable delay in the audio, but not with the Jensen receiver. Battery life is OK – 4 to 5 hours of continuous use. The main issue I have is the Jensen receiver does not remember that it is paired with the Motorola transmitter, so it has to be re-paired every time I use it. Not a big problem, just an annoyance.
Great device
I bought this to use wirh my ipod touch 3g, in order to stream music to my truck stereo and it works great. I can put my touch in the center console without any drop off or loss of sound quality. I have not had it long enough to comment on battery life nor phone use. If you are looking for an inexpensive bluetooth receiver, I highly recommend the Jensen wbt 210.
Good product for the price
I have a BlackBerry 8800 and wanted to listen to music in the car via my AUX port (3.5 connection). There are known issues with the 2.5 to 3.5 connectors and getting speakers, other than headphones, to work properly. The typical issue was only audio could be heard out of the left channel. I did some research and found BlackBerry’s Music Gatewway but wasn’t willing to pay $50+ for the device. Came across this Jenson device for $17 and figured for the price it was worth a shot.
I was very happy when I go the device and paired with my 8800 and had stereo music via my car stereo. The device has a built in battery that is charged via USB or the provided AC adapter. The battery life is ok, I get about 3 days of usage, 2.5 hrs per day to and from work. That’s not spectacular but its easy to charge and doesn’t take more than an hour to complete. As for the audio that traverses this device, it sounds pretty good. Keep in mind garbage in, garabage out, so if you have crappy/low quality/bitrate mp3s then is not going to sound any better through this. I did notice that sometimes songs sound a bit heavier or lighter which maybe outside interference to the bluetooth or the battery running down or just that the device does influence the output to some degree. Ocassionally the music clips, quick break in the music, but that doesn’t happen often and isn’t too noticeable.
Anyway, this device solved a problem for me and if your looking to send audio from your mobile device to an amplified speaker out put this will work great for you. I’m sure that it works great for a wireless headphone connection too but that is not how I’m using it so I can’t comment. Hope this review helped.
Horrible sound quality
I’ve tried with 2 different phones (Palm 800/Palm Pre0 both with the Bluetooth stereo profile. Lots of static/poor sound quality.
a bit of trouble
at first i could only get sound in the left channel… after taking it apart i was able to file and cut away plastic that was preventing the 3.5 stereo audio connector from going all the way in. after much trouble i was able to file and cut away plastic on both male and female sides to make a connection. i was surprised at how light-weight, small and cheap it was. even after i got the plastic cut away the female 3.5 jack cuts out if the unit is moved in the slightest. not good for mobile use.
my bluetooth app unders windows xp on my asus eee pc 1000h indicated there was not much of a signal past 6 feet and it kept cutting out. so it’s not good for home use either.
i think i paid near $50 but could not recommend it at any price.
excelent
i dont have any problem yet with this product
if you have A2DP format in you pc bluetooth to connect this devices
you can play your audio in your tv, dvd, vhs, portable speaker etc etc
you will have a lot of fun.
and the option to answer phone is really good.
Does not work reliably with my phone/GPS
I bought this so I could listen to my Nokia 6555 on my car stereo AUX input via bluetooth. It paired ok, but this little jewel would cause my phone to crash and reboot whenever I started playing music. At most I could play 3-4 minutes before my phone would reboot. So, it got stuck in the glove compartment.
Fast forward 12 months. Just purchased a TomTom GO730 which supports BT audio out for both the directions and music/audiobooks. Sweet! I already have a BT receiver I can use!
It was not to be. It paired fine with the TomTom, but I could not get through an entire song before it would disconnect from the TomTom. I would have to power it off and back on again to get it to reconnect, only to have it disconnect again.
Definintely was not reado for prime time. Would NOT buy at the listed retail. I paid $15 for mine and in my opinion that was still too much.
Sound quality is abysmal with charger attached
I bought this to allow me to listen to music from my Motorola Droid on my car stereo system without having to be tethered via the headphone jack. While it does work the audio quality is absolutely unbearable when you have the charger attached.
My Droid paired and connects with the WBT210 quite reliably but I was unable to get decent sound out of it whenever I had the charger attached. The battery was fully charged and I had the USB charger hooked up to the 12v jack in my car full time during my tests. I could move the audio jack from the WBT210 to my Droid and the sound difference was like night and day. With the WBT210 I would a buzzy clicky noise in the background. If I disconnected the charger the sound was reasonable. For me this is a dead end because I do not want to worry about manually charging it, I want it to just always be there and working. Having to plug in the charger periodically defeats the convenience factor.
Conclusion: The WBT210 is just not made for quality music audio while charging. It works ok while running on battery power.

Jensen WBT210 Bluetooth Portable Universal Stereo Receiver with Intergrated Microphone
If you like a good music quality- this device is not for you!!!!
Jensen WBT210 Bluetooth stereo receiver delivers mediocre sound quality with frequent stumbling (momentary interruptions) of the music transmission, which is very annoying for demanding music lovers. Frequency response is also on the low end of stereo Bluetooth receivers.
Felix.
